Pillars Bucking Bulls Pillars Bucking Bulls was started in 1999 by Billy Pillars in the town of Balko, Oklahoma. From the beginning, Freddy Cordell has played a major role in Pillars Bucking Bulls. Billy Pillars has hauled his bulls all over the nation to various special events. Now Billy finds just as much enjoyment in raising his amazing herd as he does attending rodeos. Billy Pillars got his start in 1996 when the opportunity to work for Freddy Cordell arose. Between ’96 and 2000 Billy got to be around the best of the best in the bull industry. When is was time to move back to Oklahoma, Billy was given his start of three cows from Freddy Cordell himself. Along with those cows came an opportunity to breed to a proven bull every year. Pillars Bucking Bull’s herd now consists of proven cows out of A6, Katie Did, and Panhandle Slim bloodlines. Mo Betta, Grasshopper, Little Hopper, Uncle Charlie, and Super Slim are also a predominant part of Pillars breeding program. With 35 cows roaming the pastures producing little spots and over 40 bulls, proven and up and coming, there is always excitement in the bucking arena at the ranch! Pillars Bucking Bulls had an amazing year in 2006 with trips to Anchorage, AK for the first PBR in Alaska and a top 45 finish at the ABBI Finals in Las Vegas, NV with a bull name Shorty201. Every summer becomes busy with rodeos and bullridings traveling from Texas to Nebraska over to Colorado and everywhere in between We especially enjoy “wow”ing the crowd here in Kansas! Thanks to a great beginning and fans like you, Pillars Bucking Bulls hopes to never slow down. We appreciate everything that a community puts in to a rodeo like this. Thanks again and remember our gates are always open at the Pillars Ranch. Merle Singer, La Junta, Co.--Tie Down Calves, Breakaway Calves Merle is once again providing the calves for this years rodeo. Twice he has been nominated to fight the Kansas High School Rodeo Finals (2004-2005), and was crowned the 2005 and 2006 California Rodeo Salinas freestyle bullfighting champion in Salinas, California. In October of 2005 Wacey was shared the crown of Dickies National Champion bullfighter of the PBR with good friend Sam Gress, but was the stand alone champion in 2006 by a narrow margin of three pints. In January 2006 Wacey got the opportunity to work the National Western PRCA Rodeo in Denver, CO. Wacey is a quality cowboy protector during the bull riding and one that bull riders trust to keep them safe, but he is a world champion freestyle bullfighter so don’t take your eyes off of him after a bull rider leaves the arena, because this is when his fun begins and he will leave you on the edge of your seat with crowd thrilling, heart stopping freestyle bullfighting.
